Welcome to this Living space from the House of AK that we worked on in 2020 lockdown. This indie-scandi living is designed for a young couple in noida. They wanted a low maintenance , wanted to re-use the existing furniture. Almost 140 Sqft in size ,this space has its own charm in its 30 year old re-furbished -re-loved sofa's and in multiple layering of material memories of the clients.
The Layout
A rather simple yet complicated space as you directly enter into the living with almost all the doors of other spaces opening into it. The area being small we didn't wanted to put any fixed partitions and tried to give an open feeling through muted tones.

The Feel

The clients wanted to feel relaxed in their living so we gave them a Scandinavian feel where we played with neutrals and used Indian handlooms in furnishings and gave life to a 30-year-old sofa with a circular nesting coffee table to create visual interest and for ease in movement.

What binds the whole house together is -through simple elements especially the linear grooves (geometry) on the wall of the living room that continues in other rooms in different ways.
Nesting circular centre tables proved to be a functional unit not only it eases movement around it - no edges ,perfect for an elaborate table setting and as they are light weight -can be moved where ever needed.

A floor lamp adds to the warmth of the space and also acts as a spot light for the art works. Another interesting element was the arch opening of the kitchen -which adds contrast to the linear grooves on the walls.
The centre table artefacts were styled in varying heights to give a visual interest - we love styling vases with branches -that we found in the vicinity of the site.

Created a small gallery wall which had artwork done by the client's 90-year grandfather- a total conversation starter for the whole space. The ikat deer head from vajor adds interest on the wall

One of the things that brings in the charm in this space is our clients and their own aesthetic. From the beautiful simple pieces they owned and the thought of re-loving it really sold us at first place, I love how their space reflects their personalities .
